ENVIRONMENTAL SAMPLING TECHNICIAN

H&P Mobile Geochemistry, Inc. is an environmental field service company that provides a broad range of environmental sampling throughout Southern California and beyond. H&P is currently looking for an Environmental Sampling Technician to work out of our Signal Hill office. Primary job responsibilities will include the collection of soil vapor samples, soil samples, and groundwater samples. The employee will be trained on proper soil vapor sampling procedures in accordance with state and federal guidance and in accordance with our certified sampling protocols. Accurate record keeping, attention to detail, and math skills are a must. The Environmental Sampling Technician job does require physical labor as well as the ability to lift 50 lbs. Other duties will include hand augering, decontamination of drilling equipment, and various tasks associated with field work. Employees will interact with clients throughout the day and are expected to operate in a professional and positive manner.

The ideal candidate:

  • A desire to learn about soil vapor sampling from the only certified soil vapor sampling firm in the nation
  • Personable and positive attitude with which to communicate with teammates, clients, regulators, and property owners
  • Able to cooperate when working as part of a team, but also have initiative and confidence to work independently
  • Clean driving record required
  • Good record keeping skills and legible handwriting
  • Solid math skills (including basic algebra)
  • Flexible schedule (early mornings, out of town, weekend work, etc)
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training is preferred
  • High School Degree

Compensation: Full-time, $14-$17/hr based on experience and qualifications. H&P offers a competitive benefit package including paid vacation, sick leave, health insurance, 401K, etc.

Mobile Lab Chemist

H&P Mobile Geochemistry, Inc. is always on the lookout for talented environmental scientists for the position of Mobile Lab Chemist. As a mobile lab GC/MS Chemist you will operate and maintain your own mobile laboratory, prepare and analyze environmental samples according to EPA and other regulatory methodology in compliance with Quality Assurance programs and SOP's, validate and review data for accuracy, maintain and troubleshoot GC/MS. The mobile lab operator will travel to client sites three or four days per week to perform sample analysis. The position involves independent operation of analytical instruments and individuals must possess a high degree of self-sufficiency as they must be able to work in the field unsupervised for extended periods. A bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science or Engineering is required with at least a years experience operating environmental GC/MS (preferably Agilent Chemstation). A working knowledge of EPA Method 8260B, LUFT, other EPA Methods. Experience with LIMS system also a plus. Salary commensurate with experience.

Environmental Direct Push (Geoprobe) Rig Operators and Assistants

H&P Mobile Geochemistry, Inc. is an industry-leading environmental company that is looking for Environmental Direct Push (Geoprobe) Rig operators, drillers and assistants to work out of San Diego and LA County. Primary job responsibilities include collecting soil, groundwater, and soil vapor samples for environmental field analysis. The job requires travel to job locations within Southern CA. Applicants must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training is preferred, but not necessary at the time of application (training is available). The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience working with mechanical/construction equipment and must enjoy a fast-paced, challenging work environment. A High School degree is the minimum requirement. Hourly wage will be based on experience and qualifications.
